Something's Missing...from our yard. Our "For Sale" sign is finally gone and the lockbox is off of our door. Not too sad about it though. Just happy after 2 years' consectutive Spring and Summers of being on the market that we can NOT make the bed in the morning before we leave the house, leave our housecoats and slippers in the bathroom, and leave our pillows askew on the couch. You know actually live in and enjoy our own house - what a concept! We would still like to live closer to our church, but for now we will just enjoy the Fall foliage on our trips back and forth. :)
Something's Almost Finished...our homestudy before we can be officially "approved" to be adoptive parents. Infant Care Class - check and done! 'The Prince' re-wired a few things in the basement, and rearranged our entire computer area to obsolete our daisy chaining of surge protectors for the fire marshall. We passed our fire inspection on Monday morning after this weekend's chore. We had our 2nd visit with our social worker and she finished everything she needed to. We only lack finishing reading "Real Parents, Real Children", writing answers to some questions about it, waiting on our proof for our digital and printed profile, taking infant CPR on the 14th, and sending in the activation fee. Our social worker wants to have us fully approved on the 14th or a day or two after - depending on if everyone gets the paperwork they need.
Oh, and we finally picked an infant car seat. Thank you Consumer Reports and On-line shopping from Target! If we have to put this much time and thought into everything that touches our child, we need about a year to a year and a half to prepare! (average wait time for placement once approved). By the middle of the 2nd meeting with our social worker, she was already volunteering that one of my strengths in being a parent will be organization. Now how'd she get that idea???
I wonder if this walker would be safety approved?

This is a baby BOY we saw in the jungles of Thailand. Isn't he cute?

He was a cutie! I wish I had some of your organization skills Kristen! Was there even one thing that you forgot or wish you'd taken to Thailand? I doubt it!
Actually, yes. I would have taken more clothes (pants mainly) and left a lot of food and toilet paper at home. But I guess it worked out well for Todd and Renee!
eh neh on the walker safty approval. cute baby. reminds me of my first all eyeballs. Remember the car seats that were used when we were kids? The adoptive parent prep has thought of it all. It would be nice to see more communities offer more of these classes. I have even heard of classes for big brothers and sisters. Thought that was neat. I am so excited for y'all.
